So, hey, um. This is a pretty weird question to be asking, and you'd think I'd at least know it, but to be fair, the one it's about was pretty reclusive for a long time, but...

What do you do when someone is down and hung up on something that they couldn't have controlled?

Well, I'm trying to be! But they're pretty, uh...

Kinda obstinate? They're really only happy when a couple other specific people are around, but they've been sorta busy with things I don't really understand.

Like Noriko said, be there for them, try and talk it out. If need be, get a third party in to help talk about it, if you're too close to the problem and they're not gonna talk to you.

Or, ya just give them time and space and wait, possibly for a long time given your lifespans.

Hnmm, I guess. It just... Makes me sad, kinda. They were pretty secluded on themselves for like, the past decade or so. So I don't want that to happen again.

That isn't usually how people on Earth end up treating their offspring though, right? Vanishing for four decades.
